Kylo let out a soft, shuddering breath. His hands almost felt like they were trembling against her body.
“Ah, Rey,” he said. “It’s impossible for me to deny you.”During Saturnalia, almost anything goes. Rey slips out onto the Roman streets, hoping to catch a glimpse of the revelry, but she gets much more than that. Saved from an uncertain fate by Commander Kylo Ren, Rey falls into his arms and into a vision of a world that never was. Arms ensnared her and she tensed at once, fighting the urge to batter him off of her only because it would do her no good now. A cheek brushed against her hair, a nose against her ear. She stared out at the empty expanse of yellow, dying grass, to a thick and dark forest that gave way only to grey sky in her field of vision.
“I must say,” he said in a low, quiet voice- hungry and mocking all at once. “I had never anticipated the thought of a virgin widow to be so… Endearing. It is quite novel, isn’t it?”
Rey gripped his arms and held her tongue. Her eyes squeezed shut as she tried to keep her composure. She should have run. She should have swallowed her pride and ran.
The final beacon of defiance from Alderaan would be made into the final conquest thereof, and Lady Rey Dameron was helpless to change that cruel hand of fate.
