Now that Alhaitham thinks about it, he snaps the book that he was reading shut for good measure, it’s horribly domestic.
Have they always been this way?
He gazes at the ring on his finger, carefully crafted by Kaveh. He sees all the sentiment that went into it - the ruby stone and the carved eagle and Padisarah on the inside. He appreciates the consideration behind the size and shape of his ring, designed to be inconspicuous even as Kaveh had insisted it was alright for him to wear it around his neck as he would. Not that Alhaitham believed him - Kaveh’s tone lacked all conviction and the architect knew it.
So Alhaitham wears it.

Kaveh knows many things. Routine in their dysfunctional dynamic keeps them both sane.
Which is why Kaveh drops his spoon into his soup with a wet plop.
“What?”
Alhaitham looks at him blandly from across their breakfast table before turning to his book. “Marry me.”
Kaveh blinks once. Twice. “What the fuck?”
“Have you lost your hearing from all your hammering in the middle of the night?” Alhaitham says nonchalantly, never once looking away from the goddamn book. Kaveh wants to strangle him. “You heard me the first two times.”

Or, 4 times someone found out about Kaveh and Alhaitham getting married for 'tax reasons'. And 1 time someone couldn't figure it out. It all sort of works out in the end.

Summary
Alhaitham peers at Kaveh, a few tears escaping down his cheeks, which Kaveh helps to wipe away. He lets out a defeated sigh and steps away from Kaveh’s arms, turning to walk back to his own bedroom. But, Kaveh quickly stops him.
“Wait. With me.”
“What?”
“Sleep with me.” Kaveh’s cheeks warm slightly. “In my bed.”
The 4 times that Alhaitham sleeps with Kaveh in his bed for a sensible reason the 1 time that he does so just because.
