"I’m sorry.” Sokorra said, an edge of laughter in her voice. She came around Beta so that her face came back into Beta’s eyeline. “I just didn't expect any family of Aloy's to be so..." Beta saw Sokorra visibly pause over her word choice. "...passive."
Considering that Elisabet and Beta were both computer scientists, which didn't usually include a lot of intense physical activity or violence, Beta would argue that Aloy was actually the odd one out in their weird little family tree.
“Any idiot can hit something with a stick until it stops moving.” Beta said curtly. “After all, if you can do it it can’t be that hard.”
OR

Summary
Daenys did not know how Megaera could so clearly die in one vision, only to survive and join Daenys’ family in safety in the next. It caused an agonizing thread of hope to live in her heart, one she could not quite extinguish despite the reality of things.
The thought of Megaera seeing reason and following her from Valyria into exile- into safety- made Daenys tremble with longing.
Or, Daenys the Dreamer has never had a vision fail to come to pass. For better or for worse.

this au posits that jiran took talanah hostage as a guarantee of the hunting lodge's good behavior around 8-9 years or so before the canon time-line. that lasted a few years before tensions reached a breaking point again and he had talanah's brother and father executed anyway. he then engaged her to marry kadaman- which gave him a lever with which to keep his heir in line... which is why kadaman hasn't gotten himself killed already; he's worried would jiran would do to talanah to punish him. bc jiran has been a bit more politically canny, the red raids have continued and the liberation of meridian has not yet occurred. aloy is captured at some point during one of the red raids and transported to meridian to be sacrificed in the sun-ring.

One day, two women meet on the subway. The recently dumped Lena is recovering from a broken heart, and Kara is grappling with the open-ish relationship she has with her long-distance boyfriend. They decide that they’re going to become friends. The kind of friends who also have totally casual, no-strings-attached, nobody’s-catching-feelings sex. What could go wrong?
As Alex puts it: “Kara. This is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done. And I’m including the time that you set fire to your own hair and nearly burned the house down trying to do some spell you found on MySpace to make Troy Bolton materialize in real life and marry you.”
Or: Lena and Kara go around New York City eating food and banging each other until their feelings eat away at them, and Alex tries not to have an aneurysm about it.

Summary
Sometimes, in large bureaucracies, things can slip through the cracks. This is understandable and is a universal constant much like inertia, death and annoying costumers who change their order halfway through giving it. However, misplacing an entire Antichrist is a bit beyond the pale.
Vaggie, the angelic representative of Heaven on Earth for the purpose of enlightenment and general salvation, for one would really like to know how Angel Dust, the demonic representative of Hell on Earth and person not in the work Slack, only found out about the Antichrist now after 25 years of her being on Earth. Because the Antichrist is a ticking time bomb to Armageddon and both Angel Dust and Vaggie would really rather prefer if the Earth stayed right where it was, if only so they don't have to spend more time with their respective bosses.
Of course, finding the Antichrist might be more and less of a problem than either of them realise.
