    Regardless of how Red Hood is viewed throughout Gotham, the point is Gothamites know Red Hood gets shit done. So in any other situation Hood would have everything perfectly under control. But of course the situation at hand is anything but normal. No the situation at hand involves the fucking Justice League. Specifically a Justice League that is not privy to the intimate workings of the Batfamily™, and therefore a Justice League that knows the Red Hood as a serial killing crime lord whose ranking on the Most Wanted list sits right next to Batman’s most brutal rogues.

    Lovely.

    His head hurts like it’s being split open, and Daisuke is falling, falling, falling into the dark ether.

    For a blissful moment, there is no pain. There is no Daisuke. There is only nothingness.

    Then, suddenly, there are bright lights. Daisuke opens his eyes, blinking rapidly.

    He’s in the main lounge of the Tulpar.

    After he dies, Daisuke wakes up right before the crash of the Tulpar. He hears something he wasn’t supposed to, and it puts the events of the past into a whole new perspective. He decides to do something about it before it’s too late again.

    He does not have a name.

    He has been called many things over the years; a weapon, a ghost, HYDRA’s Fist, the Soldier, and from what they have told him his work has shaped the century.

    But he does not have a name. His name, like so many other things, has been taken from him, stolen.

    Forgotten.

    Until the day it is not, and remembering, he breaks free, killing his handler and making his escape in a desperate bid for freedom.

    Frightened, lost and hurt, he seeks out the last person in the world he can trust, his baby sister, now an almost eighty-year-old widow, somehow knowing she is the only one who can help him.

    It is a difficult journey, one filled with pain, tears, and things that should not be possible. But also with recovery and redemption, rebirth and miracles, family and hope.

    This story is a love letter between Bucky and his sister Rebecca, the world, and eventually his childhood best friend, Steve Rogers, the boy he once loved. But ultimately, it is the love letter Bucky writes to himself, as he reclaims who he once was, discovers who he is now, builds a new life for himself and realizes he might, just might, be as strong, as beautiful, as precious as a pearl.

    The Winter Soldier thrashed, drowning. It was taking forever. His mask seemed to be stuck. He pulled on it, struggling to draw breath, sinking and resurfacing, clawing at his face, the panic in his eyes terrible.

    Steve's would-be killer. The very worst HYDRA had ever conjured. A symbol of death and everything he stood against. And Steve just couldn't bear it. He was ready to go, but this guy clearly wasn't.

    The premise: the Winter Soldier's mask doesn't come off quite as easily. Meaning, Steve never saw Bucky's face, and he didn't hold back during the fight on the Helicarrier. This is where the story picks up and is no longer canon-compliant. Though, I've stolen some ideas from the sequels and deliberately contradicted some future plot points/established canon.
