Something is wrong with Vincent Valentine, and Cid Highwind is going to find out what it is.
Cid moved, about to lunge for the closet, but then he was slammed into the wall, knocking the air out of him as this thing—Vincent?—snarled, long incisors far too close for comfort.
“What the fuck," Cid hissed, dodging his head in time to avoid the snapping teeth. He recovered just enough from the shock to sweep Vincent’s feet out from under him, ducking under the claws poised to slice him. Cid leant against another wall, catching his breath, while he made sense of the predator sizing him up from its own vigil, burning eyes cataloging his every move.
This was what was thrumming beneath the surface?

After the chaos of Starcourt and Billy's laborious return to the land of the living...
Steve’s a coward. He could easily go up to Billy and ask him point blank what the fuck is wrong, but Steve has never had a civil conversation with Billy in their whole existence together. He’s a coward because if he confronts Billy and there’s no glint in those blue eyes, no glare, no spit, no condescending words… that could break him. That could break Steve and that’s honestly what he’s so afraid of.
So he resolves to just… watch. From the sidelines. When Billy picks up Max, or when he’s at the shop and Steve happens to drive by, or just- whatever.
Because Billy is California and Steve desperately needs to feel the sand in his toes and salty air in his hair.

(Pre-despair, takes place over the course of their first year at Hope's Peak. Perspective of each chapter switches between Ishimaru and the classmate being focused on that chapter.
