    Summary

“I’d like to know Treviso like that. Better than that. The weird little shortcuts, the out-of-the-way restaurants, the abandoned buildings in the flooded neighborhoods. I’d like to see the streetcorners with you.” She leans forward and kisses him, just left of his mouth. Again, on his upper lip. Once more, lingering, the tip of his nose.

    Lucanis doesn’t dare speak.

“I’ll come back, is what I’m saying. I wouldn’t miss that for anything,” Rook says.

Or: The risen gods are dead, the world's a mess, and Rook and Lucanis figure out how to begin.

    Summary

“You told me to settle my business,” he rushes to say, kneeling before her. “To clear my head. My business is settled. Zara is dead. Illario is…not important. Not now. I should be focused, my thoughts should be clear. But they are not. You are in every one. I am never free of you, Taliesin. And I do not want to be.”

    Summary

"Smells different," Spite commented, glaring at Lucanis as though her scent were his fault. "Like caramel. Soft." His mouth split in a grin. "She wants you. Us. Wake her!"

"No!" The word escaped Lucanis before he could keep it in. "Leave her be, Spite. Let her sleep."

The demon was wrong. Had to be wrong. Letting himself believe that Rook wanted him was too dangerous for both of them. Spite was his only possible future, and he couldn't afford to hope for anything more...

    Summary

“Why must you encourage him?” Lucanis responds, glancing over at Rook. It’s less of a question than it is a sigh of a man who has already resigned himself to the fate of mediating such conversations. “He is already a nuisance whenever you come near.” She sucks her cheeks in, hoping they aren't burning as red as they feel. “Cállate , Spite! I'll… I will tell her. You may not.” His head drops and hands still in the basin. A heavy slightly annoyed sigh leaves him. “He says you smell like honey and oranges.”

“Spite, what have we told you about announcing how people smell?” she chides without looking up from the plate she's drying. “Most find it a tad off putting.”

    “Me especially,” Lucanis chimes in.

She peeks over to find him averting his eyes, intensely pretending to focus on the dishes in the basin. “That being said, I'm glad you noticed,” she continues. Their arms touch when she leans toward him as if she's talking directly to Spite on his opposite side. It stops his movements dead. “I did wash my hair. Had to get all the blight gunk out of it.”

    ---

I wanted to imagine something happened after Lucanis made a whole dessert for Rook.

    Summary

The major events of DA:TV, from Lucanis' perspective. Slow-burn, soft rookanis with a Shadow Dragon Rook.

    -
Rook does not seem to realise that biscotti are best enjoyed with sweet wine; she and Harding appear to have been snacking without any beverage to hand at all. Lucanis takes it upon himself to fetch two cups of coffee from the kitchen before she can chip any of her teeth. She imitates his dipping dubiously, but the way her eyes go round when she takes her first bite tells him she had written the treats off entirely until now.

    (Smells like. Sugar and almonds.)

    “Of course it does, Spite.”

“What is it like? When he talks to you?”

Lucanis takes his time before answering. “Sometimes it is like he is a mouse inside my skull. Sometimes it is like he is a person standing next to me. And sometimes it is like he is a person who has punched me in the face.”

A muffled laugh bubbles out of her. She holds up her half-eaten biscotto like a shield. “Maker! I'm sorry.”

“Don't be.” Lucanis was not trying to be funny, but he will take it.
