    Hearing it for the first time, Izuku couldn't know if it sounded different. But he knew without a doubt that it was the best sound in the world. Izuku would never need music or poetry.

    Just this. Just this. Just this. Beats arriving in a dauntless tide, on and on with no end in sight.

    Izuku also knew, without a doubt, that he was in love.

    The realization emerged in quiet. No stars moved and no earth trembled beneath him. Long since shifted to the certainty of orbits plotted immemorial and bedrock substratum.

    Maybe he'd always been in love.

    But. Slowly.

    Kacchan smiled. And.

    And.

    The stars rioted and the earth rocked down to its foundations. A vast range of volcanoes birthed a pristine continent. Life exploded out of mud. Creatures, beautiful and strange works in progress, crawled ashore and beheld creation with young eyes.

    Just like that, an uptick in the corners of Kacchan's mouth upended Izuku's old reality. Izuku smiled too, knowing the above and below had also shifted for Kacchan and they had happened into the same world.

    Everything that comes after winning.

    Okay so, alright. Dunce face wasn’t completely wrong, he does love winning, and had declared it many times. But he wasn’t completely right either and he had to set them straight. He opened his mouth to correct them but was interrupted.

    “Apparently someone does, seeing as they made you this cutely wrapped bento box with a little secret love note inside.” Mina grinned mischievously, excited at Katsuki’s misfortune “Our resident gremlin has a secret admirer!”

    Or an alternate story of unwanted advancements, growth and love.

    If the last two years were a dream, there would be no way that Izuku would still hold One for All. He would be alone.
    "Look ahead, left side."
    Izuku's face has been carefully hidden on his desk, the same way it always is when he dreams of career day. Slowly, he sits up. Leaning his head against his arm, he tilts his head so that he can look to the left.
    Kacchan is staring at him. His chest heaves like he's run a marathon in a moment. Sweat drips down his arms, shimmering with the oily shine of nitro, as he grips his desk. He looks rattled, but he's got his game face on.
    Do you know? He seems to ask silently. Are you with me?
    Izuku straightens the rest of the way, trying to carefully balance alertness with the appearance of meekness. He looks Kacchan dead in the eyes and nods.
    I'm always with you.

    or: izuku and katsuki save the world. it takes them a couple tries.
