Summary
Despite their eyes and muscles being heavy with fatigue, Cal groggily lifted their head and blinked away the tired blurriness that clouded their sight, trying to gather their bearings as things slowly began coming into view.
They were… well, they weren’t quite sure where they were; but the distant hum and drone of machinery told them that they were still in Fortuna. The room itself, however, was unfamiliar, they noted the various photos and diagrams of Vallis flora and fauna that adorned the windowless grey walls, and a carefully stacked pile of floofs that stared back at them from the far corner.
It was… odd.

He was exhausted, drenched in sweat, and felt like his legs were going to give if he took another step forward… and he was nowhere near his destination. According to the trail-marker he passed about a mile back, there was still a day and a half’s worth of walking before he even reached the Two Fork Tower.

My organic parts did something swoopy and unpleasant, but I couldn't pay attention to it because something like an extra input was abruptly shoving its way into my systems. Along with the database construction, the episode of Dark Matter Station, and the humans' conversation, I was also picking up a jumble of sensory information that didn't fit. The smell of algae was stronger, there were gray skinned Targets standing in the middle of the lounge, and one of them was saying, "We deleted it, of course."

The entire dining hall comes to a halt and Glinda’s stomach drops even more. Still, she can’t bring herself to fully regret it, not after gritting her teeth and listening as insult after insult passed through Pfannee and Shenshen’s lips.
