The two stood in comfortable silence for a time, deep in their own thoughts before Gwen spoke. “I’m sorry about what happened today.” She thought maybe he was still shaken, and she wouldn’t blame him if he was.
“It was unfortunate, but lives could have been lost if you hadn’t arrived when you did. We owe you our thanks.” Zevlor bowed his head towards her, placing a hand on his chest. “And our lives.”
“We are glad to have helped.” She turned her gaze back to the still woods before them, insecurity creeping back into her. What if they failed? What if she failed?
