Summary
He jerked upright when Moody walked into the room, all pretenses forgotten. Yet it was the red haired beauty trailing behind him that had him stilling impossibly further.
The harsh cadence of Moody’s voice broke him out of his stupor. “Evans, meet James Potter, Head of the Auror division.”
For one painful, heart wrenching second, he wondered if she had forgotten him. Because he certainly hadn’t.
James winced as he remembered Hogwarts. Their rivalry. The violent kisses. Lily had hated him. Merlin knew she still did. And yet he cursed himself for forgetting exactly what shade of green those brilliant eyes were as they flashed in the sunlight. For forgetting the violent red that ran through the length of her hair. Nevermind that every woman he had dated the years following his graduation had green eyes and red hair. He’d long since deluded himself that they were his type. Nothing else would do.
His words were gravel wrenched from his throat. “Nice to meet you, Lily.”
A storyline that follows James and Lily as aurors after they graduate and the aftermath of their complex relationship at Hogwarts. Only truth sees it through till the end. But will there be anything left to salvage?

“We don’t belong together…you deserve someone better. I can’t be with you anymore, we’re not a good match,” you sniffle and James resists the urge to kiss your tears away. Beside your head, his hands clench into fists against the wooden walls.
“Say it to my face then, look into my eyes and tell me you don’t love me anymore — that you don’t want me anymore,”
“James…” You muster up the courage but your voice still comes out, somewhat, shaky, “I-I don’t want to be with you anymore,” his expression remains steely and cold, the fierce glint of resolve in his eyes, unrelenting, “I don’t love you anymore…”
“I don’t, at least, make you feel good?”
“No.”
He doesn’t respond, instead, he keeps you pressed against the wall and manoeuvres his face to rest beside your ear, his husky voice weakening your knees “Are you sure about that?” he snakes his hands around your waist to press his fingers into your lower back. Under his touch, you suppress a whimper of relief as his massaging motions ease some strain in your back.
