There's a red lip stain on his neck- behind his ear, right where his braid used to rest.
The braid that is noticeably absent.
“Where is your braid?” Obi-wan blurts out urgently.
"I threw it away.” He smiles, as if he isn't shattering Obi-wan's heart.
“threw it away.” He mumbles back, a mimicry of Anakin's own careless voice. It's too riddled in disbelief.
“Yeah.” He shrugs.
It's a lie.
Except its truth enough.
Anakin didn't give the braid to Obi-wan. He hadn't even thought to gift it to his old Master- to the other being that had shared in his life.
In some ways he did throw it out.

In which, upon his knighting, Anakin doesn't give his braid to his master, and Obi-wan finds himself returning to the one person he could still get back after losing them.

Summary
After Fred dies, George doesn't think anything will ever be okay again. Not until Harry Potter inserts himself into his life out of nowhere, full of warm smiles and tender touches that make him melt. The world brightens around him, and soon George is laughing again, he's smiling, he's realizing that if this is what the rest of his life will look like, he's more than willing to live it. Because whilst Fred may be gone, George isn't. And for all that he will miss his twin, Fred would skin him alive if he threw that away for nothing.
Or: George Weasley falls hopelessly, irrevocably, disgustingly in love with Harry Potter and realizes how to be okay somewhere along the way.
