    It had been a rough case for all of them, ended in a car crash that had sent Hotch to the hospital with something the doctors called a “comminuted fracture.” It would likely need surgery, but for now, they’d sent him home loaded up with pain killers and wearing a temporary cast going all the way up his upper arm. Even before falling asleep, he’d been half-conscious at best, and Derek isn’t comfortable just dropping him off and leaving him in this state.

    Thinking back, he could still remember the exact moment he knew he stood no chance against Derek Morgan. It was the first day he swaggered into the bullpen behind Gideon and shook his hand.

    He remembers trying (and failing) to not knock over the mountain of files on his desk as he scrambled to his feet to greet the new agent; the zap of electricity that shot up his arm when their fingers touched, sending a path of goosebumps up his clear throughout his body.

    He remembers being caught in a trance when Derek had flashed him the most beautiful smile Aaron had ever seen. His world tilted on its axis, and he wanted to bask in the warmth that radiated from this man, and never leave.
