“I see you liked my gift,” Alex’s voice was light, but lower than Henry had ever heard it. His belly swooped at the sound.
And then the words caught up with him.
“Gift?” He felt the color drain from his face and frantically reopened Snapchat to confirm his worst fucking nightmare: his most recent outgoing messages had been sent to Alex, and all of them had been opened already.
“Playing dumb doesn’t suit you,” Alex told him, still teasing, but he sounded muffled through the ringing in Henry’s ears. “I gotta say, I wasn’t expecting you to even acknowledge them, let alone send pictures. They look good on you.”

Summary
In all honesty, Alex probably should’ve noticed sooner, but in the few weeks since moving into Henry’s brownstone, he’s been too busy with his legal fellowship to even fully unpack. As a result, when an early bout of cool weather hits Brooklyn in mid-September, Alex’s fall and winter clothes are still stored in boxes that are stacked up on his side of the walk-in closet. So what’s a warm-blooded Texan gonna do when autumn arrives without warning? Steal one of his boyfriend’s admittedly higher-quality sweaters, that’s what.
He’s rifling through the assortment of cashmere and wool in shades of blue, gray, black, and oatmeal, and when he pulls a pile of sweaters down from where they’ve been neatly folded and stacked, something on the wall catches Alex’s eye. In the wood paneling behind the shelves, there’s a depressed area that's usually hidden by the sweaters, and in the center of the depression is a single brass button.
(Or, Alex finds Henry's toy collection, and he and Henry go traipsing through Kinktober 2024 in a series of interconnected sexcapades.)

Summary
When Alex first hooks up with Henry, he's expecting a fun one-night-stand and maybe the occasional booty call. He does not expect to get so completely pulled into Henry’s orbit that it forces him to reevaluate everything he thought he knew about his sexuality. And he's not sure if it makes it better, or way worse, that Henry is actually a professional at all this stuff — what are the odds that Alex would hook up with the one guy on campus who hosts his own radio show about sex?

Henry stutters slightly as he gets his next words out, a flush spreading across his cheeks and Alex does an internal fist pump, “Can I have a bouquet please?”
“What kind?”
“You know what kind.”
“We have oh so many types of bouquets in our wonderful establishment, I truly will need more from you in order to fulfil your order.”
“You are a menace.”
“Sir, please do not harass me when I am trying to do my job.” His teeth are nearly drawing blood with how deep they are sunk into his lower lip, trying to hold back his smile.
“Plague.”
“Sir, once more and I will have to ask you to leave.”
Alex is a local florist, and Henry has found a new go to for sending his failed one night stands flowers.

“Should you be drinking if you’re trying a new medication?”
Henry shrugs. “I was told I can have a glass of wine with dinner.” He finishes his glass and sets it on the table, smiling at Alex with a warm little sparkle in his eyes. “Although it may cause sleepwalking, so you might want to check that the front door is locked.” He reaches up and flicks open the top button of his shirt. “Just in case.”
Alex chuckles, standing up to clear their plates. He presses a kiss to the top of Henry’s head as he passes the man. “Don’t worry, I’ll hold you close all night.”

Henry is recommended a new sleeping medication. It has some odd side effects.
