Summary
Mary Bennet agrees to spend the London season with the newly married Darcys. She discovers that she would still infinitely prefer a book. But hiding in the library at balls and parties is not the solution, as an odd young man keeps turning up there.
“'Miss Bennet', she says. I did not know my Conscience would have such an ordinary name.”
“I am not your conscience, sir,” Mary said, feeling made fun of and annoyed to be shaken out of her reverie for nonsense. “And whimsicality such as this, whilst charming in a child, is not so appealing in a grown man.”
“Wait,” he said. “Do wait. I am so used to speaking in that silly way with silly young women that I quite forgot myself. Please stay and talk a little more.”
(from the prompt "Mary's season in London. Her moralising is a trial to her sisters but in the end she outshines them all.")
ETA Thank you to Prinzenhasserin for helping me bounce around some ideas, and to Burglebezzlement for the offer of betaing!

Summary
...for, of course, they were to have a son. This son was to join in cutting off the entail, as soon as he should be of age...
(A series of what-ifs exploring in turn the possibilities had any of the Bennet girls been born male.)
