On the day of their eighteenth birthday, all witches and wizards get their soul mark on their left forearm. It’s why Voldemort chose to mark his servants there: to symbolise their loyalty to him trumps their true love to their soulmates. Also that he might be a little jealous, because he was one of the very few people who didn’t have a soul mark.
