Summary
Ron breaks up with Hermione because he realized he's not in love with her. She would have taken this fine and gotten over him quicker, had he not done it the way he had – in front of Harry. He mistakenly thought having Harry there as a buffer would be a good idea. In addition, Hermione discovers that Ron had planned to break up with her for months and talked to Harry about it, all the while potentially harboring feelings for another woman. This is how he knows he's not in love with Hermione, because he started to feel a connection with this other person. Hermione is hurt and embarrassed and, after breaking down to newest close friend (Lavender Brown), they formulate the “revenge fuck” plan.
