Summary
“Ed?”
Stede had gotten up now too and was taking cautious steps towards him.
“No, fuck off. Get away from me.” His back hit the cabin door once more.
“I’ve been away from you for too long, I’m afraid I can’t persuade myself to leave.”
“You didn’t have an issue with getting yourself to leave last time.”
Stede continues his advancement into Ed’s space, “I can’t let you go again, Ed. I’d follow you anywhere.”
“But not to China.”

Summary
Stede is not prepared for Ed’s eyes to be boring into him the moment he breaches the entrance. Only his head is above water, eyeing Stede like a crocodile ready to bite and thrash. He hadn’t even washed his face yet but Stede could see debris sitting at the top of the water.
“Alright,” Stede says, “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

Summary
Richie did the only rational thing a grade-schooler could come up with in response to being insulted by a being who had a superiority complex of biblical proportions.
Richie shoved Eddie off the swing.
Richie didn’t know whether Eddie’s high-pitched screech that signaled the Rapture or his teacher’s whistle pierced his ears more.
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. -

Summary
Eddie wasn't an idiot.
He did well in most of his classes, his grades even rivaling Ben's. Eddie really enjoyed math and science. His environmental science class was always a good time with Stan as his lab partner, even though he always found the soil sanitization labs a bit tedious. Bill in his calculus class made the teachers droning lectures worthwhile, Bill would make up little sayings to get particular rules to stick in his brain for long after the test date. Hell, he even was excelling in his language and composition class, Eddie's weekly timed writings always had high marks.
No, Eddie Kasprak was not an idiot, Eddie would argue that he was at least a little intelligent.
So why was he in Richie's room being tutored?

Summary
...so you must like me for me
His entire brain resets when the bartender laughs at his dumbass joke. Every laugh that he’s heard for the past god knows how long has felt like a sound effect on an everlasting ghost train. But this…this is like finally reaching the end of the tracks. Bright burst of sunlight, disorienting reality after cheap tricks in the smoke.
“Make me another, would you?” Ed says, sliding his empty glass over the bar.

Summary
What else is there? Really? There’s no way to do more as Blackbeard. He’s at the top. The only way forward from here is… down.
Should he go down? Just… let go? Try something new?
Something new.
Something… new.
“Izzy.”
“What now?”
“I’m gonna get married.”
“What?”

Summary
“What the hell’s happened to you?” Stede demands. It’s his voice, in his body, and he almost seems living, and it’s— It has to be the last thing Ed ever sees. He has to die with him burned on the insides of his eyelids.
Stede’s eyes are tracking over him, rising up to meet his eyes, locking with him. It feels so real. He can’t help the hysterical laugh that comes up and out of him, impossibly grateful for this last delusion.
Without hesitating, he lurches forward, grabbing Stede and yanking him into his arms. Stede makes a confused noise of protest, briefly, but it fades instantly and his arms come up, too, wrapping around Ed without hesitation. He doesn’t smell the same; instead, he’s all salt and sweat and sun, baked into his skin. Ed buries his face in his hair, fingers clawing at the impossibly real feel of him, the hallucination made solid in his arms.
“Thank fuck,” Ed says into his hair, voice breaking. “I didn’t want to die without seeing you one last time.”
