Summary
It’s only when he’s telling Stede about dying and how Stede brought him back, wrapped in Stede’s robe and sitting on his bed with the world’s worst breakfast hogging all the space between them, that Ed really gets what he’s feeling. It’s not weather, but time. It’s a clock, and all he can hear, no matter how loudly Stede smiles, is ticking.

Gingerly, Ed grabs the corner of the blanket on the ground, which has been acting as Ed’s mattress/pillow/sheet for the past few days, and gives it a sharp flick.
The spider is not dead.
