“You think you can deny this, Kate, but you can’t.” His voice dropped to a whisper, desperate and raw. “We’re bound. Two halves of the same whole. You can run. You can push me away. But it won’t change what we are.”
Kate pulled back, her expression unreadable. “You need to leave, Anthony.”
For a moment, he froze. Then he smiled, a slow, unsettling curve of his lips.
“I’ll leave,” he said, stepping back toward the door. “But don’t think this is over. You’ll see, Kate. You’ll understand. Sooner or later, you’ll come back to me.”
And with that, he was gone, leaving her to wonder if she’d just witnessed the unraveling of the man she thought she knew. Or the emergence of the man he’d always been.

And now, I am trying my utmost to understand you, understand your past, and you…” She trails off, unable to keep going, and Anthony wonders if she is so distraught because of the storm or because of all their near-misses and almost-kisses.
“Have you not looked back?” Anthony asks, abandoning his pretences of decorum, for it is evident that Kate is not maintaining hers. “Every single time, are you truly telling me you felt nothing in return? Because if you did… if you felt nothing, tell me right now and I will walk away and we can agree that this conversation never happened.”
Set during and after the 2x04 library scene. What if Kate didn't walk away from Anthony when she did?

She didn’t tell Anthony.
Because she loved him. Loved the moments they spent together, the friendship they had forged. Loved the way he looked across the dinner table at her and cracked his little grin at whatever madness was occurring between them. Loved the way he soothed her during thunderstorms, his voice deep in her ear, his large hands stroking her body. He was her confidante, her support, her brother. The man she could have so easily fallen in love with, had they not shared the same blood.
So she buried it. Held it together when Anthony’s touches grew more intimate, more familiar. Willed her heart to steady when he brushed her hair from her face, when he rubbed her tense shoulders, when she fed him a bite of her brownie and he licked the excess chocolate off her finger like it was nothing. Like it meant nothing.
It wasn’t enough.
But it would have to be.
