Glowing, magenta crystal walls greeted him, spreading across the ceiling and floor. He could see no entrance or exit, yet as he turned around, Nine the fox suddenly appeared before him, arms folded behind his back as he regarded Shadow with a smirk. “Ironic, I would say.”

Now that Sonic's back safely in Green Hill, Nine expects the others to abandon him in the Grim. After all, they'd promised to leave him alone. Even making connections with the other two foxes doesn't push away the assumption of of a future of eternal isolation. Until the others threaten to break their promise. Just... not in the way Nine would've expected.
