Summary
“Riku,” Sora wrapped his arms around Riku’s neck and pulled him into an embrace. It was tender, comforting, and it seemed to settle the unease and insecurity that had been trying to grip at him after he pulled away from their kiss. Then, Sora pressed his lips against Riku’s ear, voice breathy and keening as he rolled his body against Riku again. “I want you.”
Sora and Riku learn something about each other after dinner and drinks.

Summary
Newly minted as Keyblade Apprentices, Xehanort and Eraqus decide their first adventure together would be to explore the ruins of Daybreak Town that lie under the sea of Scala ad Caelum. As they learn more about the strange ruins, they find themselves growing closer…
Eraqus ignored Xehanort, a coy smile growing wide and bright on his face as the soft fairy lights floated around Eraqus, as though his excitement were drawing the light in closer to him. Xehanort certainly felt like he was being drawn closer to the other teen, but he remained where he was. “Very few are willing to dive down here like a crazy person unlike you—”
“Hey!”
“Think about it, Xehanort. The ruins are ours alone to explore. Nobody but us can come here.”
Xehanort’s stomach flipped as he imagined the ruins being a secret place all of their own, something away from the constant looks from the other apprentices and masters in the training halls.
He liked the sound of that.

Summary
Defeat Organization XIII, destroy Kingdom Hearts, find Sora. Three simple goals lead Roxas and Riku down a harrowing path of self-discovery, forgiveness, and hope.
An alternate reality take on Kingdom Hearts 2 if Riku had failed to capture Roxas.
on hold
“Without having Roxas return to Sora, there is no way for me to finish repairing his memories,” It was almost unbearable to look at Naminé’s face as her fingers gripped her drawing tablet closer to her chest, sorrow dimming the girl’s normally bright periwinkle eyes. “I don’t know what else can be done. I—”
Riku rested a gloved hand on her shoulder and shook his head. He didn't blame her, not when she spent a year trying her hardest to undo the damage the Organization forced her to do to Sora’s heart. He didn’t blame Xion who had unwillingly become the container for Sora’s unchained memories.
He definitely didn’t blame Roxas, the blond Nobody of his best friend who almost landed a killing blow on him a mere hour ago. He was just as much of a victim of circumstance as they all were.
Instead, Riku blamed himself.

Summary
A brief look through Riku's POV during the year Sora slept, the week they were back home on Destiny Islands, and during a break between their separate travels.
When Riku was younger, he longed to grow up and be an adult. He hated being trapped, unable to go to the places he wanted to go or do the things he wanted to do because he was only a child. He always saw adulthood as a form of freedom, but the older he got, the more he realized it was just as much of a trap as being a child was.
It was that realization that motivated him to build the raft with Sora and Kairi so they could leave Destiny Islands. He wasn’t a child and he wasn’t an adult, so why not take advantage of that while he could before he was forced to settle for a simple life he would always feel resentment over?
Then the storm came.

Summary
“Hi, this is Firefighter Buckley with the 118. Isabel and Josephina got a clean bill of health, sir. You don’t have anything to worry about, I’ll be here with them if they have any questions for us,” Buck reassures, and, surprisingly, he’s met with absolute silence on the other end.
He waits a few seconds, then lowers the phone to check if the call dropped. It still says ‘Edmundo’ on the screen, and Buck catches a glance at the contact picture of said Edmundo on Isabel’s phone, and gapes for a moment. The guy’s real young, holding a newborn baby in his arms, baseball cap pulled down over most of his face but a dazzling smile, clear as day, peaks out.
“Right. Uh, thank you, Firefighter Buckley.” And wow, oh. It’s a nice voice too, velvet and rich sounding. A little gravelly, but in a very pleasant way. Buck likes it. But not in any way that means something. Objectively, it’s a nice sounding voice. Right.
***
Or, five times Abuela and Pepa try to matchmake probationary firefighter Buck with freshly single dad Eddie moving to Los Angeles, and the one time they don't need to do anything at all.

Summary
Buck and Eddie meet at a Special Forces conference when Buck is finishing the first phase of his SEAL training and unsure if he can keep going, and Eddie is giving a talk on being a combat medic, feeling overwhelmed. They cross paths, go get breakfast, give each other necessary advice, and exchange contact details. Their long-distance (and sometimes not so long-distance) friendship doesn’t change everything, but they have each other’s backs sooner—and that changes enough.

Summary
Eddie, ten years younger, in this awful 2010, blinks up at him. He's still sitting slumped on the curb, and for a second Buck thinks he might tell him to fuck off, but then his eyes fall shut and there’s something — aching and painfully vulnerable in the bend of his mouth, the faint tension in his brow. “My…um, girlfriend, I guess. She’s pregnant.”
“Holy shit,” Buck says.

Summary
Buck said, "Look, I'm sorry I overheard that because it's personal, and you should be able to decide who gets to have that part of you." Eddie came out of his hunch a little and looked him in the eyes, and Buck felt a zing of giddy accomplishment. It maybe made him stupid. "But to be honest, I'm really flattered that Pepa thought a punk like me could get a guy like you."
Eddie's eyes went huge, and under the sodium lights Buck could see his ears turning red.
Shit. Back off, back off, Buck told himself. He said, "I mean, you look like you know how to file your taxes," and immediately wanted to smack himself in the face.
Just two strangers hanging out after a tsunami, talking about being in the closet.

Summary
“I kind of have a sweet tooth,” Eddie admits. “It was easier when we were a little broke. I took my coffee black because I was always in a rush to my next shift, and we were scraping by, so any juice and sweets I bought were for Chris.”
“So what changed?”
Eddie’s finally looking at him, and he flushes.
“I’m just trying this new thing,” he says, “where I stop punishing myself. I’m trying to be… nice to myself, I guess. For once. Like, showing myself that the world isn’t going to end if I do something just for me.”
