Summary
I had an assignment where I had to "write the first chapter to a modern sequel of Pride and Prejudice"... so I did.
To quote Jane Austen, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. Now, Mister Fitzwilliam Bennet-Darcy is a man in possession of a rather generous fortune, yet he no longer needs a wife as he is no longer a single man. He is married to Miss Elizabeth Darcy-Bennet. Another truth universally acknowledged is that a non-single man with a good fortune and a wife must be in want of children. Luckily, The Darcy-Bennet household has three very caring children, and one very nosy cat.

Summary
Gem noticed a small, empty table at the back of the room. She walked towards it, muttering quiet ‘Excuse me’s and ‘Sorry’ as she traversed the chaotic arrangement of desks. She reached the table only to find that it was not, in fact, quite as empty as she had thought. A sandy-haired boy wearing a muted red sweater peered at her from behind his bangs as she slid into the stool across from him.
“Hi.” He offered when she said nothing. “Grian.”
“What?” Gem asked, confusion laced into her tone.
“Grian. M’name’s Grian.” The boy said, chuckling at her confusion.
“Oh. Gem said quietly, looking down. “Ok.”
“And you are…?” Grian prompted, still looking at her.
“Gem. I’m Gem.” Gem said quietly, giving him a small smile.OR
Gem moves to a new high school with a bunch of other hermits and I chucked anxiety, depression, friendship, romance, an overprotective sibling and a toxic ex at her. What could go wrong?
