“Bruce…” Tim complained, “Jason hardly counts as a ‘friend.’” Tim air quoted the last word, signifying the difference between family members and friends.
Normally, Bruce wouldn’t have made that argument with any of his other children, but there was something different about Tim and Jason’s relationship than any of their siblings. Bruce had suspected for a while that there might be something going on between the two, but he didn’t have any proof, nor would he want to confirm it. He could ask, right now, but he feared hearing something he couldn’t unhear. At the same time, if he allowed Jason to spend the night, knowing that there was a high probability that his suspicions were true, then he’d not only be condoning it but also propagating it.
“That’s exactly what I’m worried about,” Bruce sighed.
