"You can stay, y'know." Her voice cut through his thoughts. He noticed the slight quiver of her hands. "You don't have to keep running."
He shook his head. "You know I can't."
"Why not?" Her voice grew louder, the question more of a demand. She was pleading with him, pleading to know why he wouldn't just slow down.
Every time I stop, every time I slow down, someone gets hurt. You'll get hurt. You'll die. He wanted to say. He wanted to make her understand."You don't need me!" He said instead.
"Bullshit." She breathed out, stepping farther into his space.
