“It’s kind of pretty, in a messed up way.”
“What is?”
Etho looked up to where Grian was doing a final check on their bags, making sure they got everything they wanted. “Uh,” The blood dripped from his knuckles to the ground below. “Pink blood. It’s kind of pretty.”
Grian watched with him, more blood dripping down and landing on the cement. Finally he offered a lopsided smile before nodding his head. “Yeah, I guess it is.” Grian jerked his head towards the stairwell. “That has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Pink blood.”
Etho nodded even though Grian wouldn’t be able to see as his best friend started down the stairs. Etho took the chance to look back at the three bodies they were leaving for the birds.
Maybe Grian wasn’t the only one going crazy.
Or, After five years of traveling just the four of them in a post-apocalyptic world, Grian, Etho, Pearl and Lizzie suddenly find themselves in the company of past friends and lovers. Lines are draw, but in the sand, and sooner than later all nine of them are going to have to figure out where each of them stands in a battle much larger than them.
