Summary
When Anakin was very small and new to the Temple, a junior senator by the name of Obi-Wan Kenobi taught him how to read and write his letters. Twelve years later, that same senator asks for him specifically to accompany him on an expedition to examine a planet of old Jedi Temples.
For Anakin, this arrangement is perfect. For one thing, he's been nursing a deep, abiding, romantic love for Obi-Wan Kenobi since he was sixteen. For another thing, he has a few very important questions to ask the man, like for example: why did he stop visiting? Why did he never answer any of his letters? And of course, does he believe in the Core concept of marriage?
But his idyllic plans for reunion, retribution, and hopefully wedlock suddenly become bisected by a lightsaber when Obi-Wan takes one look at him and pushes such disappointment into the Force that it guts Anakin where he stands. He can't understand why, but by the Force is he going to figure it out.

“Of course. You all—” Namjoon’s voice catches. He doesn’t admit to them that they’re the first people he’s spoken to in nearly a decade. He doesn’t tell them that their mingled scents remind him of his home that’s been long lost in a forest a lifetime away. He doesn’t share that here, with them, Namjoon feels as if there is sunlight pouring in through all the empty spaces of his chest.

What he must think of his padawan, so totally abandoning the tenets he tried to instill upon him and his very connection with the living Force, trading it in for pomp and procedure and mind-numbing, endless boredom as the newly appointed Senate Liaison for the Jedi Order.
Endless boredom with one very integral bright spot.
Well, technically two.
An argument could, of course, be made for three.
Or, Obi-Wan has trouble counting. But to be fair, Anakin Skywalker--full-time galactic senator and part-time public speeder commute eye-candy--isn't exactly making it easy for him.
