A collection of my fills for DriftRod Week 2021. Each fic has a target word count of 5k, because I am nothing if not filled to the brim with hubris.

    Enjoy!

  2. Summary

A Hotlock (Deadlock/Hot Rod) Soulmate AU series, wherein the author skips cross-faction drama entirely by having the two of them desert and become Neutrals in the very first instalment. But, y'know, this is still Deadlock and Hot Rod. Their luck and propensity for misadventure is fully canonical, and who am I to disagree?

As a general note, please do heed the there are no good guys in war tag that I put on every story because there is no Autobots=Good, Decepticons=Evil framing to this series (or, indeed, pretty much any of my TF works). If you don't like the "good guys" acting like the morally grey soldiers they canonically are and having it acknowledged in the narrative, then my works are not for you.

As a second general note: both Hot Rod and Deadlock have being sex workers as part of their backstory. However, this is in the context of forced prostitution in a dystopian society, and is therefore not exactly positive in its portrayal. This is not intended as any sort of commentary on IRL sex workers. Thank you.

  3. Summary

A DriftRod slice-of-life AU in which Drift is a human, Rodimus is a vampire, and who even knows what the other assortment of characters are?

This probably barely even counts as TF fanfic, but I'm having fun, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And, yes, the series title is from Halestorm's Love Bites (So Do I). The song has nothing to do with the content, but the pun was too good to pass up.

Note: the magic system as presented in this AU is not intended to be based on or reflect any real life cultural practices. It is very much a "Hollywood Supernatural Tropes" approach.

A fascinating what-if oneshot with exquisite character interactions and development along the theme of communication, a wonderful Deaf character, and enough trust-as-vulnerability and touch starvation to satisfy any fan of the trope. Also: nicely done worldbuilding interspersed into the background. Excellent work ❤

A wonderful story by the ever-talented blackkat! A tastefully done crossover where no-one feels under-powered or over-powered, and it sensitively handles the mental illnesses (D.I.D and schizophrenia) of Marc Spector, Moon Knight. Characterisation is wonderful and the chapters are decent length. Highly recommend.

God, this is a beautiful series of character studies, I cannot recommend highly enough. The prose is both gorgeous and heart-breaking to read, immersing the reader into stories of very real-feeling lives, spelling out grief and hope and healing wonderfully. The sheer humanity that shines through is truly remarkable. Please give these stories a go if you haven't already.

    Summary

Some people wonder how to do the mouseovers and hovertext on AO3. This comes in especially handy if you want translations of the text you've written to show up when the original text is moused over (you, of course, must provide the translation). While there are ways to do this in CSS coding, AO3 is not set up to allow it. However, you can do it in basic HTML, and there's a couple different ways to get the look you want. So here you go!

Note: If read on a phone, these often do not work as intended. Stupid phones.

The essential, uncomplicated guide to doing hover text (three different kinds of it!) without having to fiddle around with work skins or complicated coding. Thank you so much, Otter_Von_Bismarck, this is invaluable!! [And yes, to anyone reading through my bookmarks, I did test it out before-hand, so I can vouch that it works.]

An organized referencing of Jedi lore, tradition, culture, teachings, Temples, and sayings in Star Wars canon. Sorted by themes and motifs to hopefully better serve as a way to see what we actually know about who they were.

    Bookmarker's Notes

A very well put together reference meta on strictly Lucas-canon for Star Wars. A phenomenal amount of work has gone into it, pulling in quotes and citations from only Lucas-canon resources (the films, the TV shows [The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels], the tie-in novels published from 2014 onwards [a.k.a. the canon ones], and a fair amount of Word of God/interviews). Disregards the Extended Universe (a.k.a. Star Wars Legends) to create a well-structured guide for George Lucas' version of Star Wars. Highly recommend a read if one wants to write a strictly-Lucas-canon world into their fanfic! Thank you very much, gffa!
