Percy looked down at his hands, tan even in the winter, his eyes dancing with amusement. Apollo was pleased to see it. Tragedy was so much sweeter when there was joy to balance it—a hint of catharsis among the ruins. And Percy Jackson seemed to be tragedy personified, in far too many ways. Apollo wanted to somehow save him.
"I'm quoting my son," Apollo explained, laughing. "I've always found the line rather ridiculous–overly dramatic, even for me–but I understand it now, looking at you, Percy."

“You were in the ambulance with Ken-chin,” Mikey says. He begins wrapping the bandages around Takemichi’s hand. “The doctors said he coded there. That his heart stopped. Because he moved suddenly and tried to talk, and that was too much stress.” He looks up, then, black holes for eyes. Takemichi shoulders the gaze. “He talked to you.”
“He did,” Takemichi answers softly. The good arm that’s wrapped around the pillow he’d picked up clenches around it. He already knows what the question is, but he lets Mikey ask it anyway.
“What did he say?”
“He talked about you,” Takemichi replies, simply. “You’re his brother. Why would he talk about anything else?”
Or, people seem to have the odd habit of entrusting Mikey to him when they're about to die. Takemichi recognizes patterns.
