Summary
“You’ve never said that before.” he said, so quietly Buck wasn’t sure he heard him right. His arm was still stretched out in the space between them.
“I mean I knew you loved Chris, or hoped so at least, after I put you in my will.” Eddie continued with a bitter laugh. “But me?” He turned his eyes on Buck’s- desperate, pleading. “You love me?”
That startles a small laugh out of Buck, like he can’t believe what Eddie is asking.
“Eddie, do you even have to ask? Of course I love you, just like I know you love me.” Buck says simply, like the sky is blue, or the grass is green, or Evan Buckley and Edmundo Diaz love each other.
OR the 118 has to work on Thanksgiving so Buck plans a surprise for everyone and forgets to invite Tommy.

She lifted a hand to her heart. “So with that, I would like all of you hear from one of the most beautiful essays I've had the pleasure of reading, from one of the-” she sighed. “-funniest kids I've met. Please welcome Christopher Diaz.”
...Christopher smiled into the microphone. "My name is Christopher Diaz. Here's my essay."
"Dear abandoning dead Mom."
The silence from the audience was deafening.
"Oh god." Eddie whispered beside him.

Summary
What if Buck lied about the whole "dropping out of Navy SEAL training" thing?
Buck had been out of the SEALs for a few years now and was living his best life as a firefighter in LA until one thing led to another, and he found himself in the middle of a tsunami and lost one of the most important people in his life. At the same time, one of Buck's old teammates found a little boy with brown hair and a yellow shirt in the wreckage of Santa Monica. What happens when Buck reconnects with a part of his life he thought he left behind forever?
