A warning before you walk this path - it's dark.
I haven't found much that truly delves into what Eliot might have done in his pre-Leverage past
but this might illustrate what he meant when he advised Parker not to ask him what he'd done
and when he confided to Sophie that redemption could not be his. -

I think we need more Eliot Spencer/Maggie Collins works. Their chemistry in 'The Two David Jobs' was delicious.
I don't follow my own canon - another story deals with Nate's survival. This does not.

Alex: Hmm. Is that my Butterfly?
Evelyn: I told you not to call me that.
Alex: Shh. You're gonna wake up your mother.
Kai: Butterfly? It's cute.
Evelyn: Cute? You want to know why he calls me that? Because when I was ten years old he was teaching me how to break out of having my hands zip-tied together. He said I was moving my arms like butterfly wings.
Kai: He zip-tied your hands together and taught you how to break free? Huh. Sounds like Alex.
Evelyn: Yeah, he never wanted me. He never wanted a little girl.
Kai: I doubt that's true.
Evelyn: He had me take karate at seven years old. Bought me a BB gun at 12. When other kids went camping, my dad took me into the mountains to teach me survival skills.
Kai: It just sounds like he wanted to bond with you over the things he knew about.
Evelyn: I think he just wanted a son.
Kai: Or he just lived a very dangerous life and was constantly worried about your safety.
Evelyn: I don't know. I guess I don't really know him that well. This is a flashback scene extension with Evelyn at 12 years old.

ESSAY ON CHILDREN & PETS LEFT IN A HOT CAR ~ THEIR FINAL THOUGHTS by Soquilii9

Summary
I wrote this in 2015 after reading of the death of Fidji, a dog left in a car while his owners went shopping in IKEA. https://blog.mywaggle.com/dog-dies-after-being-left-in-car/
Seldom does a week go by that a child is not found dead in a hot car. I won't go into statistics but it's a horrific number. Locally, there were two just this past week (2024).
If one person reads this essay and thinks twice before forgetting their child or pet, or who spots a child or pet in a hot car and smashes the windows to rescue them, or who spreads the word and shares this essay, then it will have been worth writing.
My own opinion, harsh though it may be, is that there is absolutely NO EXCUSE whatsoever for these types of crimes, and they ARE crimes, which should be punishable by death. These are not 'tragic accidents.' We don't need more and more gadgets in our cars to remind us of those precious lives stored in the back. A child would be safer in the front seat!! Leave your dog at home!!
The death of a pet in a hot car should carry a minimum of 5 years in prison. If it were left to me, it would be 3 times that. In the case of a child's death - capital punishment. Preferably, not on a gurney. In a hot car. -

Punishment for Not Eating a Fetal Duck Egg Series :D
The Almost Paradise Aftershow along with an online interview (see URL below) inspired me to put Alex Walker
in Christian Kane's shoes.
Poor guy.

problems from which you cannot escape, or prevents you from doing what you want to do.

Summary
This is an updated, rewritten version of “The Hole in the Wall,” {2014} in accordance with the canon of Leverage Redemption, Season 2, Episode 6: "The Fractured Job."
We know Eliot's father now, and he is not the alcoholic abuser as I characterized him in my 2014 story. Eliot, in this story, is the same age as Christian Kane. I named his mother Pam, since they honored Christian's actual father by naming Eliot's father Billy.

Summary
Based on The Walk in the Woods Job
I placed Eliot Spencer and Paul Orozco in Afghanistan at the time of this story. It was established in Leverage that Eliot was in Myanmar in 2003, so the Afghanistan War [10/7/2001–8/30/2021] is the most likely setting. If any blaring error is evident, it is the fault of the writer.
Harry: Dr. Paul was a soldier. How come he had all this stuff?
Eliot: Dr. Paul was a combat medic. A combat medic is the same as a soldier. He's just got medical training. Paul had a gift for both. And he saved my life once. Thanks to Stephanie Gress Plain for her input.

Paul Orozco: I said I'd testify and once I did, I felt the darkness lift.
Eliot Spencer: Well, you carried that weight a long time.
Paul: Yeah. It's a pretty nice outfit you got here. If you ever need a badass Latino medic, give me a call.
Eliot: Well, you got a clinic to run, my man.
Paul: You should come down. Swinging a hammer is good therapy.
Eliot: That right?
Paul: Clears away the skeletons. I know... I know you said that can't be fixed. I'm not even gonna try.
Eliot: Well, maybe I can try.
Paul: To the road we've traveled.
Eliot: To the road ahead.Dedicated to Our Veterans

Summary
Inspired by Leverage Redemption: The Crowning Achievement Job
Heartbroken, I could not leave Eliot Spencer as he was on the season finale. This is an attempt to fix him in any way humanly ~ or other-worldly ~ possible.
Eliot: ‘Sophie, Sophie. Stop. Arthur found your weak spot. And you know what, it's a good weak spot. You and Parker, Hardison and Nate, you guys went all in on becoming better people, and you brought me along for the ride. You're a bunch of walking second chances, and that is why you believed Arthur deserved another shot because you are... redeemed.’
Sophie: ‘So are you.’
Eliot: ‘No. No, I will never be redeemed, and I made peace with that a long time ago. And that's what makes it very hard for people like Wilde to get one over on me. I know I may never be deserving of a second chance. I appreciate the opportunity to be useful.’There is no actual major character death - it's only implied.
Special thanks to my reader, Magical Misadventures in Miscellany, for her kind and constructive suggestions to make this story better. I appreciate you, my friend!

Eliot: 'I didn't tell you what? That I'm adopted? I'm adopted! All right? It's not that big a deal.
My mother worked at the hospital where they... dropped me off. She brought me home
and they adopted me.'This is my take on how that might have happened.
