Summary
Faced with the worst news of his life yet, Alphonse makes an irrevocable choice, knowing it's the only way he'll be allowed to help solve the mystery of what happened Edward and General Mustang.
The train could not come fast enough, and having arrived, could not depart fast enough. Minutes and miles, stretching out. Alphonse was startled at the hard seat, the swaying motion he'd never felt in six years of accompanying Edward back and forth across the country. The rumbling of the tracks under his feet reminded him of thunder. He was tempted to count the distance between the rails, as though it would tell him how far he had to go to reach the center of the lightening strike.

Summary
Five years after Mariemaia, Heero meets up again with the only people he ever considered friends... but Duo and Trowa have disappeared into the underworld. When did the world go wrong?
Heero leaned back in his chair, idly fingering the picture frames piled on the table. Without even meaning to, his fingers latched onto Quatre's lone photograph, dragging it across the surface and lifting it up to stare at it. Who was that other person? Who was that younger version of him? Who were those people that had been standing just outside the frame? Where did they go? Where did he go?

Summary
Heero's and Quatre's annual gift-giving competitiveness has gotten out of hand, and Duo has an idea of how to get the two to cool their jets.
Trowa leaned against the wall, arms crossed, head down. He didn't want to be there, didn't want to see Quatre's face, or hear the disappointment in his voice. As much as Trowa hated to admit it, he'd realized--after a long day to consider it carefully--that Duo's suggestion was the best alternative.

Summary
Roy Mustang is assigned to track down missing National Alchemists. Edward Elric tags along. [Mild revision of previously-posted work; focus is on smoothing characterization, dialogue, and tension, with little change to most major plot-points.]
Roy finished off his drink, holding the glass up as he studied the wet ring it had left on the bar napkin. Carefully he set it back in place, perfectly in line with the circle. He was tempted to find a pen, draw crosshatches and marks across the circle, an idle transmutation circle that would make him able to snap and jab back at Edward. Then the young man would be relieved that their poniard wits were still sharp, and leave, probably in a huff while slamming the door behind him.

Summary
Between guiding Keith in Black, being conveyed within Allura, and returning to a physical form after so long, Shiro's overwhelmed -- and unable to disconnect from the spiritual links he'd inadvertently created with Keith and Allura.
Two voices within Shiro's awareness, overlapping dialogue. Shiro keeps his gaze on the purple glow of Black's instruments, opening his mind, trusting their voices, reaching out like he once had to Black. Keith's presence is passion, longing mixed with loneliness, the glow of fire, white-hot at the center, drawing Shiro close. Allura is dispassionate, a self-possessed calm imbued with gold and limned in a blue so clear it brings tears to Shiro's eyes.
