Rantaro blinks as green eyes meet gold, both sets of them confused but somehow okay with each other as their hands instinctively wrap around one another.
“I’ve met you before,” Rantaro thinks out loud as the color blue overwhelms him, calming and serene. It’s not blue like a clear sky, but blue like the ocean at nighttime, and if he stares long enough Rantaro feels like he is swimming.
The other boy strengthens his grip on Rantaro’s hand, and he is suddenly overly aware of how warm the other boy’s hand is. It travels from his palm to the core of his heart, and for a moment Rantaro swears that he is on fire.
“I know,” the other says, and Rantaro feels like he has heard that voice before, somewhere, sometime ago. Maybe it was days, maybe it was centuries, but he knows he’s felt this warmth and heard that voice before.

“Well,” Akamatsu frowns, a tiny crease in her bright expression. “Okay. I’ll tell you this.” She looks at Kaito, a mischievous look on her face. “I know what Saihara-kun’s secret is.”
Kaito’s eyebrows shoot up, and he leans forward slightly, pointing at her with his banana. “Really?”
“Of course, I’m his best friend,” Akamatsu shrugs, like this should be obvious, and Kaito laughs. She’s right. If Shuichi was asked to rank his friends, sometimes Kaito isn’t sure that Akamatsu wouldn’t be at the top of the list. Really, if there’s anyone who’d know, it would be Akamatsu. He just didn’t consider it. “So if you can guess his secret over the next, hmm, week,” she bites her peach. It’s a bit overripe and a bunch of bright yellow juice drips down onto the table. Akamatsu pouts at it. “I’ll tell you if you’re right or wrong, okay?”
