Summary
The number of people being born with spiritual power isn’t rising with the population, and organizations across the world are desperate. The number of restless dead are outstripping the number of people who can send them on, their souls left to fester and warp.
Marian Cross may be a professional psychopomp, but she isn’t too worried about the politics. She does her job, and does it well enough to spend her eternal life with all the necessary vices.
Mana Walker dies, and it’s fine. She’s lost friends before.
Except he had a kid, a kid who can see not just the dead, but the secrets of the living, a kid who a lot of people would love to join their faction.Bookmarked by Slugsnmud

Summary
The one thing he hadn’t lost was his appetite. His memories might be petals on the wind never to be seen again, and his name might be lost forever, but his appetite was still strong.
Anita is happy to drag him to each stall in the market, speaking in her native tongue so confidently and swiftly that he only catches key phrases. She walks away with something she calls tanghulu and her face brightens when he tries a bite and makes a delighted noise.
It reminds him of—
(“It’s called tanghulu, Allen! Here, try some!” Lenalee says, thrusting a skewer of caramelized sugar and fruit in his face. This was days before everything fell apart.)
—nothing.
His Innocence isn't the only thing destroyed when Tyki attacks him in China. His memories are in shreds too. Just when he thinks everything he's lost will be gone forever, he catches a glimpse of someone Auntie Anita calls an Exorcist.

Summary
For Freminet, taking the brunt of what he thought was an acid attack aimed towards Spina di Rosula's boss was nothing more than a split second decision. He wouldn't call himself a hero by any stretch of the imagination-he's skittish and meek and tragically pathetic on almost every level-and he wouldn't say he led his life with noble and virtuous intentions either.
-But when the urge to help someone comes to him, he ponders little over it. That's just what a good person would do, and Freminet desperately wants that: to be a good person.
(Still, maybe he should have paid more attention to just what was being splashed.)
OR
Freminet dissolves into water. That really should have been the end of it, but it seems like the ocean wasn't keen on letting him go just yet.

Summary
"You don't even know me."
"Does that really matter?"
Makoto was quiet again for a while, his eyes falling shut. When he finally turned his gaze on Ryoji again, his expression was cold.
"I'm not sure what about me you find so fascinating," he uttered. "You shouldn't bother sharing so much of yourself with me, Mochizuki. I'll probably make you sad."
Ryoji stared at him wide eyed, his lips parting to speak, but no sound coming out. He felt his heart flutter in his chest again, and he leaned down so that they were eye to eye. Makoto didn't flinch away. He held Ryoji's gaze, challenging him to object. After a moment, Ryoji offered a warm smile.
"I think you have that backwards," he said, his eyes squinting slightly at the corners. "I don't know much, but one thing that I know for certain is that your heart is unbelievably kind."
Makoto's gaze wavered, his breath catching. He let his eyes wander back to the looming silhouette of Tartarus in the distance, and he reached up to brush his bangs from his eyes.
"You don't know anything, then."

Mochizuki Ryoji feels an almost supernatural connection to his dorm mate, Yuuki Makoto. Of course, that's by design.
