    “You’re a mermaid!” Yuuji gasps out. “Or— Merman? You have a tail! And fin-ears! Oh my god!”

    “Shhhhh!” the man — merman? — scolds, clasping a hand over Yuuji’s mouth. “Quiet, please. Don’t know… who is around.”

    Yuuji stares up at the merman with eyes so wide he fears they may pop clean out of his skull. He nods his head robotically, and the merman hesitantly drops his hand.

    “You’re a merman,” Yuuji whispers.

    The merman chuckles at that, entire face brightening with it, and it’s so unexpected that Yuuji can only laugh along with him.

    “Yes,” the man says. “I’m… merman. My name… Yuuta.”

    Yuuji nods dumbly. “Yuuta… I’m Yuuji.”
