He finally lifted his gaze from the pale face on the bed and looked up at the Council Member, seeing another facial expression he didn’t want to see, one of concern and pity.
“Have you slept at all?” Mace asked, taking a tentative step towards the bed.
Qui-Gon returned to his vigil and shook his head, finally speaking for the first time in days.
“No,”
He could sense the lecture on the tip of Mace’s tongue being tucked away for a future argument and instead he felt the comforting hand of a friend on his shoulder.
“I’m so sorry, Qui.” Mace said, softly.

Obi-Wan deliberately turned his back towards Anakin and kept his focus on the city’s horizon. For anyone other than Anakin he looked as calm and stoic as ever, but Anakin knew the man better than anyone and the slump of his shoulders told him everything he needed to know.
“I sensed something,” Obi-Wan confessed. “Something dark…something I've sensed once before.”

“Everyone is concerned about you.” Siri’s answer was neither a confirmation nor denial of his statement. “Few have seen you since the arena on Geonosis.”
He gestured wildly towards the hanger across from them and Siri did not move, she would allow him a moment, but not let him get sucked beneath the waves of his emotions. She would be his lifeline in this moment whether he appreciated it or not.
“How can I face the Padawans who just lost their Masters?” He went on. “Or look a Master in the eyes who lost their Padawan? All of them died and for what - Dooku got away, we are about to go to war for the first time in a milenia and now we’re short handed Jedi all because I was stupid enough to get caught!”

Summary
Years ago Dooku's blood was used to save Obi-Wan Kenobi's life, now the Sith has manipulated this connection to create a powerful bond between them. Obi-Wan believes he can use their connection to a tactical advantage in the war, not caring what this could mean to his personal well-being (though he finds it harder and harder to ignore the worried faces of the Council and his former Padawan).
Meanwhile, another Jedi searches for answers and stumbles upon a much bigger (and darker) plot.

A message. A slow and agonizing death. The twins rush Obi-Wan back to Yavin. He's reunited with loved ones. But as the poison eats away at him, the twins must find a way to save the man who has been protecting them for nineteen years. Fast.

Summary
When Qui-Gon receives word that Obi-Wan has gone missing, he obtains permission from the Jedi Council to rescue him, leaving his new apprentice behind at the Temple.
He gives little thought to the chasm that’s only grown between them since Obi-Wan’s field Knighting, after he saved Qui-Gon from a Sith on Naboo. He doesn’t find it overly odd that a young Knight might not find the time to drop in on his old Master, not with the new duties he’s just acquired.
When he finds Obi-Wan, he realizes he was wrong not to wonder.
