Summary
Horangi has been on a different mission from König for the past few months now, and he'll never admit it, but he's starting to miss the mountain of a man. He has been for months; he's to stop at a safe house and hand off a USB port to some commander. After that, he gets to stay at the safehouse until he's given another job. He has no idea who the commander is, and he really couldn't care less; he's just praying the safehouse has some spare heat suppressants rolling around in a drawer somewhere. He can feel that his suppressants aren't working anymore, and he's days away from being useless to the military. Meanwhile, König is on a different mission, back in Austria, doing some kind of stakeout, horangi has no idea. Horangi gives the commander—some guy named Graves—the USB. The handoff goes smoothly, and immediately after, Horangi gives Graves the boot, not wanting the man to still be here when he's looking for heat suppressants. He's going to try to contact König. Grabbing his radio, Horangi switches to a private line and clicks the button a couple of times, trying to notify the mountain man of his problem.

John MacTavish wakes up. The first thing he sees is a brilliant, cloudless blue sky. He looks around for someone or something he cannot recall, but he believes it is important. His brain hurts, and his thoughts are fuzzy. Was he not just in the corridor? When John looks up at the sound of a bird flying past, some of the tall stalks of golden grass around him shift. There's someone in the grass with him.

Summary
König, suddenly and urgently called home, is then tasked with not only the daunting duty of repairing the dilapidated church in his hometown but to also set aside his career and become a priest, per his mother's request. Yet when he arrives, superstition surrounds the building and everyone whispers about how the sacred building is somehow haunted.
The soldier is quick to dismiss them all as nothing but rumors, superstitions, and other bedtime stories to make children behave. That is until he can’t explain the claw marks in the wood or the strange sounds filling the building's walls.
