Summary
One would think traveling 52 years into the past would allow Harry some much desired anonymity, but unfortunately the malfunctioning Triwizard Cup spat Harry out on the quidditch pitch in the middle of a game. There's no lying about his provenance while a shiny plaque on the base of the Cup announces to everyone he is 'Harry Potter, Hogwarts Champion, 1994.'
Swept up by the ministry and sworn to secrecy by the Unspeakables, Harry is left to navigate the past on his own. Good thing his great-grandparents are willing to take him in - even if they're a little more into blood purity than Harry had expected - and Hogwarts is willing to welcome him back - even if he's a novelty to everyone as the time traveling Champion.
At least Harry will have the familiarity of Gryffindor Tower to ease his homesickness. Or he would, if the sorting hat hadn't put him in Slytherin, where he's forced to share a dorm with none other than Tom Riddle.

Summary
If there is one thing that he has learned, it is that surviving is hard. By itself, choosing to survive and continuing to exist will be one of the hardest things to accomplish and by the next day he is surprised he didn't die the day before. Or the week before. Or the year before that. By all rights he should be dead by now. But there is something about giving up that feels like it gives every shattered child to follow him the excuse to give up too, and he can't die with that on his conscience.
So when after years of surviving he gets into UA by clawing his way through metal and impossibilities, he will give everything he has to give everyone even the slightest chance to learn to live too, because oh it is a beautiful thing. Living is looking at the stars and breathing cool night air, knowing that you deserve it because everyone deserves it. He believes there are no exceptions to who deserves to be saved, so he learns that he is not an exception either.
When he is put in the position where living is impossible but death is taken away, he puts everything he has towards ensuring the survival of those who taught him the difference between living and surviving.Series
