Dream sometimes turned into a blob when he needed it most. For example, if he was in a field at night, he would turn into a blob just so he didn't have to deal with it. He never told anyone, it was no one else's business.
However, when he was hurt and in a snowy tundra as a defenseless blob, it became someone else's business.
