Summary
It was nearing the end of his fifth year at Hogwarts, and Regulus Black was getting on with it. Things at home had been far from perfect since Sirius ran away and left him behind, but that didn't mean that he'd stopped caring about his brother altogether. He just wasn't willing to admit that to Sirius.
So when Regulus is woken one night by an infuriated Severus Snape, he doesn't want to get involved with whatever his brother's latest 'prank' is. But seeing him isolated from his friends in the following days, and worried about what the coming summer will bring, Regulus decides that he has no option but to get involved. He couldn't possibly be aware of what would happen when he pushes himself into the orbit of one James Potter. With the threat of war looming and Potter busy chasing that muggleborn girl, what could possibly pass between him and Regulus that would compromise the Slytherin?

Summary
It all started with a letter. One letter and Regulus Black is breaking all over again.
Regulus has always been in the background of his own life. After all, who would ever care about cold, cruel, worthless, uninteresting, unlovable Regulus Black. When a letter from Sirius set Regulus on a destructive path only one person notices. Enter James Potter, former best friend of Regulus' older brother Sirius. With a war going on both outside the school doors and inside Regulus' mind will they even all survive?
*Pretty much this whole story is potentially a trigger so here is one big trigger warning for the whole thing rather than an individual one before each chapter. This story talks a lot about suicide and suicide attempts/planned suicide attempts as well as depression. If you are actively struggling with any of this stuff please don't read. The way that Regulus describes his suicide plans may be damaging to people currently struggling, it is not the truth only how the character feels. Please read the tags. The romance in this is also sped up quite a bit just to help with the pacing of the story, it is in no way realistic to these types of delicate situations.*
