Once Eloise leaves Colin's room, Penelope and Colin's proximity changes its tone; maybe it’s all in Penelope’s head, but there’s an intimacy here as she burrows into Colin’s naked chest, like it’s where she belongs. It feels like she does. It feels like he’s supposed to hold her like this, captivate her with the heat of his flesh, the depths of his breaths, and the strength of his hold. It feels a little like home, and it devastates her to think like that.
But this is what she’s missed the most. These unparalleled moments where there are no guards or boundaries or weirdness. The parts of him that make her feel the softest, when he’s affectionate with her through touch, like yes, he missed her as in her personality, but also her as in the feeling of her skin and the softness of her hair, because she’s missed those things from him, too. The quiet of his voice as he speaks only to her, the caress of his fingers when he tries to get her attention, the warmth of him when he invites her into his bed so he can hold her like this.

Colin rolled his eyes and held back an irritated sigh. If he had two quid for every time he’d heard this particular query from his eldest brother, he’d likely be rich enough to do without his trust completely (maybe). “I don’t see what the big fuss is, Ant. This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”
Anthony scoffed. “For you to put down some roots, yes. I didn’t realize going on a reality show would be part of that.”—
ORColin goes on a House Hunters-esque show and brings Penelope along to help him choose his new home. Assumptions are made, tension rises, minor chaos ensues, and the end result is quite different than Colin originally planned.

Summary
“Colin!” Penelope shouts, her face lighting up with a smile that had to be a million or two watts, rivaling the brightness of the sun.
“Pen,” he says, feeling some kind of weight drop from his shoulders, replaced by her when she jumps on him. Her arms wind around his neck and instinctively, he catches her, one hand on the back of her thigh and the other pressed against her lower back.
“Fuck, I missed you,” she breathes.
It’s exactly the homecoming he’d wished for. His heart takes off in his chest. She smells like vanilla and lavender, and her whole body is warm and wrapped around him, and he wonders if maybe they could stay like this for the rest of their lives, because God, he’s missed her, too.
With his face buried in her neck, Colin murmurs, “Yeah, me, too.” Neither of them really let go, and he doesn’t want to read into it that much because—he doesn’t even know. Because he’s scared, maybe. Probably. Because he doesn't understand it and doesn’t want to. Because for all his exploration of caves and canyons, he isn’t sure he’s ready for whatever he’d find the second he reads the text of their friendship and discovers something hidden between the lines.
