Doll would be the first to admit she hadn't been kind to Uzi Doorman- it may have been out of a sense of self-preservation, but that cruelty was still cruelty. However, after an interesting prom day, an awkward sleepover, and a few key realizations, she realizes they may have far more in common- and her feelings may be far more complicated.
..or:

Taigen wasn’t so sure what he expected when he blinked his eyes open. The aching of wounds, the throbbing of his head and a cottonmouth were anticipated, possibly even finding himself back in the depths of the white bastard’s fortress like a caged animal would’ve been more expected. However, nothing could’ve prepared him for a pair of blue eyes staring down at him at an uncomfortable distance.
They weren’t the same ones he had grown used to, these were less round, more distinctively Japanese. So he lay there for a moment, startled amongst his searing injuries and under the inquisitive stare.Or
Mizu's full of surprises, 'fathering' a child just happened to be one of them.

Summary
“You’re serious,” Frazie said after a moment, the realization hitting her like a well-aimed pinecone to the face. “You’re actually planning on running away.”
Raz lifted his chin. “What are you gonna do about it?” he challenged. “Tell Mom and Dad?”
Frazie was silent.
She should tell them. That was the right thing to do. But… What would even be the point? No one else would actually believe that Raz would just… leave. Not Mirtala and Queepie, who were too young to really understand the family tensions, and not Mom or Dad or Dion, who cared more about the family than anything and even now couldn’t seem to figure out that Raz didn’t.
Aquatos didn’t just desert each other. They were equal parts family and circus act, each with a role and an understanding of where they were needed, loyal to each other before all else. They had nothing else in the world but each other and their little traveling circus, and so they put all they had into that. That was how the Aquatos were supposed to work.
Frazie knew better than that.
Frazie knew Raz better than that, and she knew Raz was serious.
