Summary
The gas station is almost empty, and it's one in the morning.
No one's watching him. Gerry should grab what he can, and now. His stomach aches, same as it has since lunchtime passed him by on the bus ride he'd only barely had money for.
He edges casually up to the gondola, grabs an unexamined chocolate bar off the shelf – the thing he figures is least likely to crunch or jangle in his pocket, unlike the bags of nuts or crisps next to it – and retreats just as quickly. He's sure he did it smoothly, and the Eye still hasn't told him that anyone–
Gerry freezes. The Eye is suddenly Watching him, the pressure scratchy and irritating under his own lids. It feels happy. That's never good. Gerry rubs one palm against his left eye as he turns around, hopes it just looks like the sleepy gesture of a teenager up past midnight.
It takes everything he has to not flinch back from the man staring straight at him.

Summary
In 2015, Jon is working for the Library of Jurgen Leitner - helping to hide, contain, and study dangerous books of the Fears. When Leitner insists Jon is the perfect match to buy and utilize the newest artifact he's found, Jon isn't expecting to come face to face with the tattooed, threatening figure of the son of Mary Keay.

This is set sometime in the first 6-7 chapters or so, before Gerry & Jon have managed to establish too much trust on Gerry's end especially. This is just a little bite of a scene, and could probably be read without reading the larger work, if you're interested. (In that case, just note that Gerry is Jon's slave, or "Indebted", in this AU.)

But when he actually gets the apology he wants — a good spar — it kicks off a violent fascination with this powerful ex-god. Childe's always chased dangerous things he can measure himself up against, after all.
But when he gets in over his head, will he be able to get back out again?
Or: Zhongli may look, feel, and even often act human enough, but he's still a demigod who's used to interacting with mortals in certain ways. Encouraged by Childe's explicit insistence that he wants violence in their relationship, things gradually go south. And then go further.
Diluc is terrible at fixing things, but he's good at investigating. This just ends up being a type of puzzle he's never had to try handling before.
