Christine rolled her eyes. “It’s unattractive, not you. But it certainly isn’t a good look on you. Where is that frankly astounding degree of self-confidence you normally have? Really, you should be the one who’s unbothered by the idea of going on a date with Tony.” She gave him a considering look. “Unless you’re intimidated by him,” she said, a sly look entering her eyes. “He is rich, famous, successful, and very attractive.” She paused. “I can go on if you’d like.”
Stephen closed his eyes. “I’m not intimidated by him. I’m very secure in my own qualifications, Christine.” Really, the very thought of that was enough to annoy him. Please. Him? Intimidated by Tony?
