Late afternoon; that was when she would arrive in a carriage to meet her husband as he left after completing his duties for the day in the Imperial Court. The gates would be guarded, but they knew her and her purpose, and would not say a word when she stepped down and waited for his arrival.
The doors opened, and she craned her neck to see her husband walk past the threshold, however it wasn’t him at all.

“You paying to get chased and caught by me, fake knife and all?” Aemond snorts dismissively, “Shit, nephew. For you I may have even done it for free. Add a real knife to make it fair and fun.”
Lucerys huffs, but the thought of Aemond chasing him across the field—like a hound after its meal—sends a thrill down his spine. Bad idea, bad idea. Hot idea.
“Who says you would be able to catch me?” Luke taunts. “Pretty sure I’m faster than you.”
Aemond brings one hand to his neck, hooks one finger on the choker, pulling it and then letting it smack back against Luke’s skin with a thwack. Asshole.
“Wanna bet, you little fuck?”
Luke swallows, nibbling on his lower lip, and then catches Aemond’s single eye flickering down to his mouth.
Well, then.
Running into Aemond at King's Landing’s Halloween maze isn’t what Lucerys expected for his night. Getting chased and fucked outside after one of their usual arguments? Well, he expected that even less. Not that he’s complaining. Out of adversity comes opportunity, or whatever the hell the family therapist—who might severely advise against this—would probably say.

Summary
Aemond’s had enough. Enough of the way his traitorous heart has begun to bounce in his chest when he looks at Lucerys, when he even so much as hears his name called out. He’s had enough of the way Lucerys looks at him, private moments just for the two of them. The predatory and amused look in those dark eyes, reminding him of last night and making Aemond dread what more is being planned inside that infuriatingly pretty little head.
The forced family retreat continues. Aemond avoids his nuisance of a nephew as much as he can. But no man is perfect.

His daughter giggles at the man but Aemond finds himself struck by how familiar he sounds. Like someone else he knew a long time ago. His eye searches his face, which is covered slightly by the black pirate hat and the fake beard but he thinks he can just spot the man underneath, whose eyes he’d know anywhere.
“Lucerys?” He asks abruptly, feeling like he’s gone back in time.
The pirate startles at the address, peering intently at Aemond before those brown eyes go wide with realisation.
(Or, Aemond and Lucerys broke up after finishing university only to run into each years later, when Aemond’s taking his daughter trick-or-treating for Halloween).
