All the world ceased to make sound and sense around him. When the fuck was this arrangement made? Why the fuck was he doing this? Did he take Kaveh’s advice before he left this morning? No, he'd have to have signed up for this at least a week ago. But why this? Was it for the money? Definitely not. Other campus positions paid better. And Alhaitham never struggled with finances. And he knew that Kaveh came to figure sessions! If anything, he was doing this for the audacity!

Lyney nods minutely. What else is he supposed to do? Somehow, he’s in a strange place where the dead are very much alive. As if on cue to the tune of his torn heart, Wriothesley smiles that charming, movie star grin that caught Lyney in its teeth at the tender age of eight and chews him up at twenty-five.
“Sorry, I never caught your name.”
“L-Lyney.”
Wriothesley pats him on the shoulder. “Well, Lyney, let’s get you taken care of, hm? Follow me.” Then he walks away to the library’s exit, but before Lyney can follow, the scene changes abruptly. The room is the same, more or less, but Wriothesley is gone, replaced with his panicking sister.

Summary
Lyney thought that he could move on from everything that had happened during his mission in the Fortress of Meropide. As weeks passed, he tried to forget about Wriothesley as well. That is until the Duke pays him a visit one day after a show and he finally receives a proper apology from him. He keeps visiting after that, again and again, even when Lyney turns away and ignores Wriothesley's obvious feelings and how he tries to worm his way into his life.
Unfortunately for the both of them, Lyney has never been good at acknowledging his own feelings.
