“Listen closely, because I won’t repeat this,” the pirate captain said. His voice was deep, with a hint of a drawl. Not nobility, not by a long shot. “My name is Captain Slade Wilson.” Murmurs ran through the gathered crew, though it seemed like it wasn’t news to everyone. Dick swallowed. He’d heard that name too.
One look silenced them. “We’ll be taking all you have, obviously. But, if anyone’s got the balls, we got a room for a couple more. You’ll be fed, and you’ll get your share of the loot. You’ll have to earn your keep, but it’s as close to freedom as you can get.” Wilson paused, looking out at the men before him. He hadn’t looked at Dick at all. “Well? Any takers?”
Dick swallowed and stepped forward.
After resorting to prostitution upon a merchant's ship to settle his debts, Dick is resigned to his lot. Slade Wilson, captain of The Deathstroke, offers new opportunity and a life of his own. Dick is intrigued. Very intrigued.
