It used to be a corresponded relationship, each drop of love poured into the music given back tenfold, until the produce of his hard work had grown to be too much, too high of a standard for him to reach, and his love soured, turning into blind terror, and later on, vicious resentment. He had began to hate Harumichi for putting him through grueling practice, and by proxy, he had began to hate the piano, hate its vast range of emotion he couldn’t emulate for how hard he tried, hate everything that tied him to the endless expectations.

Perhaps he had a place in the world and he wouldn’t have to feel like a dead weight and a waste of space anytime he silently put a bottle of wine in the fridge for Akito’s new lover or gave him his opinion on the person he was currently seeing or every time emotions bubbled up in his soul and he thought of them as illegitimate, unjustified, inexcusable.
After all, Akito was a master connoisseur of love, much more partial to the taste of stolen kisses than the acrid taste of bloodied wine on his delectable lips, who better than him could judge what was worth of being cared for and what not?
