Summary
In a desperate bid for a British Eurovision win, the BBC brings together Stede -- a classically trained pianist who gained mainstream success with his hit children's show By Hook or By Crook -- and Ed -- the washed-up lead singer and guitarist of legendary grimy Britrock band Blackbeard and the Krakens -- to craft a camp single sure to sweep the audience off their feet.
But the bookies have their eyes on dream punk sensation Jim Jimenez, repping Spain; Ed's manager Izzy Hands gets increasingly frustrated as the contest draws closer; the foundations of Stede's marriage become increasingly shaky; and the world watches two very different musicians fall in love.

The rest of the band should relax, okay? He was not unconcerned about the fact that Stede Bonnet - the “poor man’s Elton John,” as one particularly nasty critic called him - covered some B-side The Scalawags wrote more than a decade ago. (He was very, very concerned, actually. He was very concerned because the first time he heard it was two weeks ago and he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it since.)
When Stede Bonnet releases a chart topping cover of an old Scalawags song, Ed is more taken with it than he'd like to admit. After Calico Jack starts twitter drama over the "destruction of real music," Ed finds himself in the unusual position of having to apologize to Stede in person.
He's fine. His palms aren't sweaty. He's super cool and he can do this.

“Yes,” Izzy tells him. “I’m— Yes, fuck, would you just—”

Summary
“Put. It. Down.” Soft, deadly, Edward gave a final warning, watching Izzy’s face. “I won't shoot you unless you make me.”
Izzy laughed, hollow and humorless. “Right, because you caaaaaare about me, do you,” he half-sang, sneering. “Because I’m your friend,” his mouth twisted on the word, “is that it, Edward?” He inhaled, and let it out in a shaky sigh, the frantic energy dissipated. “No, Ed. We’re not friends. We never were.” He looked sad, Edward thought, and his gut twinged and his eyes widened as Izzy wrapped his free arm around Stede again and brought the blade away from his throat, holding it high.
Izzy's hand began a slow, deliberate arch, and he stared into Edward’s eyes as he brought the knife down toward Stede’s heart.
“Don’t-“ Stede cried.
Edward fired.
