    Summary

The two made eye contact and the atmosphere was turned on its head. Husk stopped breathing. He’d been closer to Angel than this before but something was different. There was a charge in the air, like right before lightning struck. Neither of them were putting up a front, there were no jokes, it was just them. Husk really shouldn’t have liked thinking those words than he did. They were friends, just friends. He shouldn’t be enjoying Angel’s company this much, it was weird. He needed to leave. He needed to get up and walk back to the bar, slipping into the grumpy person he practically lived in. He needed to go before he did something stupid. Luckily, Angel did something stupid for him.

Dandelions represented rebirth, the first sign of life that sprouted after a harsh winter. So Tommy couldn't help but believe as those same petals spilled from his mouth that maybe he needed to die before he was someone worthy of love.

“We could die out here,” said Gerry. Eyes on the road, hands loose around the steering wheel— there was no reason to say it, but Michael thought he understood. The late hour or the glimmering night, the rush of darker shapes on the road beside them; the mind wandered. “A bus … some truck that goes a little off course …” He made a quiet sound, a crashing sound, and it was oddly contemplative but still didn’t sound fully serious.
Michael regarded him for only a second before leaning back against his headrest, eyes fluttering closed. “It’d be a privilege,” he murmured, tucking one hand behind his neck.
There was a pause from the driver’s seat, and then, “Sorry?”
A brief flare of light — some passing car — lit the backs of Michael’s eyelids red. Curiosity in Gerry’s voice, confusion, and below them the old familiar concern, raw and genuine. Michael felt the corner of his mouth turn up in spite of himself. “To die by your side.”

    Summary

The doorbell chimes cheerfully, and Wilbur draws his attention to the door.

    “That’s probably the pizza.”

“Yeah, I’m sure it is. I’ll get it.” Wilbur plucks Techno’s wallet from the side table and crosses the space between the living room and the front door, nudging his shoes aside in favor of answering the door.

Wilbur opens the door, creaky hinges and all, and stops. Gilded in the moth light is a boy- young and old at the same time, a golden halo dirtied and worn. His eyes are familiar- a sight he had not seen in three years time.

Wilbur stares at his little brother, who stares right back. Then he shifts, taps a toe on the ground, and clears his throat.

    “I didn’t.. I didn’t know where else to go.”

Three years ago Wilbur's foster brother ran away without a trace. Wilbur never quite got over it, but was forced to move on with his life, certain he'd never see him again- until Tommy reappears on his doorstep one fateful Tuesday. Healing ensues.
