Summary
Maggie should be thrilled that Northern Outpost Three, the post-apocalyptic drama she co-stars in, got renewed for a second season. Her over-30 status and scant resume mean this is the best job she’s ever likely to get, but the new showrunner, Maxwell Lord, seems hell-bent on destroying everything she’d loved about Outpost last season. Even the beautiful scenes one writer keeps giving Maggie’s character, Mila, are getting axed, and Mila’s gone from a survivalist expert to a useless sex symbol in booty shorts.
Likewise, this is the best writing job Alex will ever get. A career of mini-rooms and almost-but-not-really screenplays means her connection to the show’s big star—her very own baby sister—was her only in. But Maxwell is ruining everything, and his main target is the character Alex will never get sick of writing for, Mila, who is played by a beautiful actress so criminally underrated that Alex wants to scream.
Shooting on location in a remote corner of Alaska, an actress and a writer have five weeks to create something new and beautiful from the smoldering remains of the show they used to love, or to lose everything—including each other.

Summary
“Well, I’m glad to finally be doing something useful,” Maggie says with her mouth full, chasing an over-large bite of dumpling with a gulp of the delicious, bitter tea. “So, is this the mission?” she asks, gesturing to herself, the way her ratty, travel-worn clothing hangs off her bony, half-starved body. “Show up on her doorstep looking like an urchin, begging for her help?”
Lucy nods. “For now, yeah. She used to love you, after all. We just have to hope that there’s enough of the old Alex Danvers in there for that to still matter.”

Summary
In Maggie’s mind, merfolk had always been stories, but she knew that they were stories that fishermen took seriously. On her first fishing boat, last year, a crewman had come yelling that he’d seen one, and the captain had taken the news to be deadly serious: they had strapped down everything they could and brought all hands on deck that night, bracing for a storm.
Maggie had thought it to be excessive. The weather radar wasn’t showing anything. There were no NOAA warnings. But here was the captain, making them suit up in life jackets with emergency ties, and sure enough, the storm that hit them was the worst that Maggie had ever experienced as a sailor, both in her two years on fishing boats and four years in the Coast Guard.
And now Maggie had seen a mermaid, too.
A contemporary fantasy story in which Alex is a mermaid, Maggie works on a fishing boat, and together they save a little bit of the world.

Summary
Alex’s tally did not count every day since Maggie and Kara’s departure. They left often, after all: it was their role to bring materials here, to the Deo Haven, from the mainland, and to deliver supplies produced here on the Haven to the crumbling mainland cities that needed them.
Alex only began the tally when it became clear that their absence was extending beyond the usual. Normally, they’d be gone five days, seven. Fourteen, twenty, if something went wrong. But boats came and went, carrying runners and builders and laborers and tacticians of all kinds, and none of them brought Maggie back to her. People would leave, and return, and leave, and return again, mission after mission, and none of them came with Kara.
Sanvers is the primary ship here. Supercorp is secondary but significant.
